Meet our Doctors

Market Street Medical Practice has been established in Brisbane CBD since 2003, and comprises a group of seven experienced GPs. All our doctors are fully accredited and vocationally registered, and each have between 15 years and 25 years’ experience in general practice. We aim to provide a holistic approach to medical care.

Dr Peta Leonard


Dr Peta Leonard has been a dedicated general practitioner in Brisbane for more than 20 years following hospital-based training in pediatrics and psychiatry. She is experienced in all aspects of general practice, especially preventive health care for cardiovascular disease and chronic illness. Peta particularly enjoys meeting and providing continuous care for multiple members of a family. She is also an accredited dive medical examiner.

Dr Nici Leonard


Dr Nici Leonard has more than 20 years’ experience in general practice, in addition to five years in hospital positions, particularly in obstetrics, gynaecology and psychiatry. This includes two years attached to the Rural Doctors training program in Toowoomba. She holds a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and has trained with the Family Planning Association (FPA Health). Nici returned to general practice in Brisbane in 2004 after seven years based in Sydney. Her special interests are men and women’s health, antenatal care and psychiatry. She is also an accredited dive medical examiner.

Dr Christine Shih


Dr Christine Shih graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2001. Christine has a special interest in women’s health. She has gained extensive experience working in tertiary hospitals in Melbourne, such as the Mercy Hospital for Women and the Royal Women’s Hospital. She worked at Family Planning Victoria and completed further postgraduate training in reproductive and sexual health. Christine is fluent in Mandarin.

Dr Jessica Bunker


Dr Jessica Bunker has a background as a pharmacist and clinical trials doctor. Dr Jessica has special interests in skin cancer medicine, women’s health and mental health. She is accredited to insert and remove contraceptive devices, and performs skin checks using dermoscopy.

Dr Nadine Garraway


Dr Nadine Garraway graduated from the University of Queensland in 1989 and worked in hospitals in rural Queensland and England before gaining her formal General Practice qualifications in 1995. She passionately loves the breath of ease in general practice and the opportunity to practice preventative and holistic medicine. Dr Nadine has a special interest in adolescent and young adult health, as well as ongoing rural medicine commitments.

Dr Preveena Nair


Dr Preveena Nair is an experienced general practitioner who completed her medical and surgical training at the University of Adelaide in 2008. She enjoys seeing a broad range of general practice presentations and is passionate about supporting her patients using evidence based holistic principles. She loves helping her patients to achieve their best health possible.

Dr Nair has training in nutritional medicine and mind-body medicine. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the clinic and is a warm and compassionate practitioner.

Dr Nair has a special interest in women’s health, antenatal care, paediatrics, mental health , chronic gut and preventive medicine. On a personal note she is a mum of 2 boys and loves yoga, music and dance.

Dr Sima Vakili


Dr Sima Vakili graduated as a doctor in 2011 and has been working as a GP for several years overseas and in Australia. She completed her studies in Iran and received her GP fellowship from The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She is a delightful and warm doctor, has a holistic approach to the patients, and enjoys all aspects of general practice.

Dr Sima has special interests in Chronic illnessesskin cancer medicine and women’s health.

Dr Andrew Renaut


Dr Renaut consults fortnightly at Market Street Medical Practice.

He specialises in conditions affecting the lower part of the bowel, including bowel cancer and polyps, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, faecal incontinence, haemorrhoids, fistulae and fissures. He has also trained as a general surgeon and treats conditions such as hernias and gallstones. Where surgery is indicated, he routinely uses the laparoscopic approach (keyhole surgery).

Dr Renaut also performs colonoscopy, both for symptoms and for screening for bowel cancer; and gastroscopy (endoscopy) to diagnose conditions such as acid reflux, lactose intolerance and coeliac disease.

All procedures are performed at Brisbane Private Hospital on Wickham Tce.

Andrew is passionate about wellbeing and prevention and has put together a large website for patients which is free. He has also written a book about the only sustainable method of weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight – The User’s Manual For Your Body.
