Meet our Doctors

Market Street Medical Practice has been established in Brisbane CBD since 2003, and comprises a group of seven experienced GPs. All our doctors are fully accredited and vocationally registered, and each have between 15 years and 25 years’ experience in general practice. We aim to provide a holistic approach to medical care.

Dr Peta Leonard

Dr Peta Leonard has been a dedicated and well regarded general practitioner in Brisbane for more than 30 years following additional hospital-based training in paediatrics and psychiatry. She is experienced in all aspects of general practice, especially preventive health care for cardiovascular disease and chronic illness . 

She has additional special interests and expertise in paediatrics/ mental health / men’s health and adolescent health care including adolescent mental health .

Peta is a thorough and compassionate doctor and particularly enjoys meeting and providing continuous care for multiple members of a family.

She welcomes complex cases and is highly experienced in preventive health care.

She is also an accredited recreational dive medical examiner.

Dr Nici Leonard

MBBS (QLD) DipObs FRACGP

Dr Nici Leonard has more than 30 years experience in general practice, including five years in hospital positions, particularly in obstetrics and psychiatry and 2 years attached to the Rural Doctors training program in Toowoomba. She holds a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and has trained with the Family Planning Association (FPA Health). 

Nici returned to General Practice in Brisbane in 2004 after several years based in Sydney. Her special interests are men and women’s health, antenatal care, psychiatry , complex cases , chronic disease management and preventive health care. She is an accredited recreational dive medical examiner.

Dr Christine Shih

MBBS (Melb) FRACGP

Dr Christine Shih graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2001. Christine has a special interest in women’s health. She has gained extensive experience working in tertiary hospitals in Melbourne, such as the Mercy Hospital for Women and the Royal Women’s Hospital. Dr Shih worked at Family Planning Victoria and completed further postgraduate training in reproductive and sexual health.

She has further experience in preventative health care and weight management and offers implanon insertion / removal as well as antenatal shared care .

Christine is fluent in Mandarin.

Dr Jessica Bunker

BPharm MBBS FRACGP

Dr Jessica is a thorough and experienced Gp , having a background as a pharmacist and a clinical trials doctor .

She has special interests in skin cancer medicine , women’ s health , and mental health . She performs implanon insertions and removals as well as thorough skin checks using dermoscopy . She is experienced in preventative health care and has particular expertise in medication reviews .

Dr Nadine Garraway

MBBS FRACGP

Dr Nadine Garraway graduated from the University of Queensland in 1989 and worked in hospitals in rural Queensland and England before gaining her formal General Practice qualifications in 1995.

She passionately loves the variety in general practice and the opportunity to practice preventative medicine across all age groups.

Dr Nadine Garraway is a friendly, and welcoming Gp with extensive experience of over 30 years . She has a special interest in adolescent and young adult health, paediatrics , mental health , men’s health and preventative health care , as well as ongoing rural medicine commitments. She is a thoughtful and engaging practitioner .

Dr David Holford

MBBS DipRACOG FRACGP

Dr David Holford is a very experienced GP with 30+ years of experience and has recently relocated to Brisbane after running his own practice in North Qld for many years. He has additional experience with emergency care, care of the elderly, indigenous health and procedures .

He is a warm and knowledgeable doctor with expertise in men’s health ( incl prostate problems and low testosterone ) , iron infusions, skin checks and excisions, women’s health including antenatal care and chronic disease management . He has a special interest in paediatrics and is a lovely GP for children.

Dr Sima Vakili – (working Saturday mornings only)

MD FRACGP Dr Sima graduated several years ago from her preliminary medical studies in Iran . She has completed further Gp training in Tasmania and received her GP fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practice . She has a holistic and friendly approach to her patients and enjoys all aspects of general practice. Dr Sima has special interests in chronic illnesses, skin cancer medicine and women’s health. She is Fluent in Farsi.
 

Dr Joyce Shi

Bsc, MD, MPH, DRANZCOG, FRACGP

Dr Joyce is a warm , thoughtful and accomplished Australian trained GP, who has gained additional qualifications in obstetrics and gynaecology as well as public health ( health promotion ).

She has worked for several years in Brisbane including UQ Gatton Campus, as well as previously in Melbourne and Sydney.

She has special interests in women’s health incl implanon insertion , antenatal shared care , young adult and student health, preventative care and health education / promotion.

Dr Raley Griffiths

MBBS FRACGP

Dr Raley is an experienced doctor of over 25 years, having been a popular long term Brisbane northside GP.

She has varied interests especially women’s health , antenatal care, fertility and paediatrics and has additional experience in breast care and assessment.

She is known for her kind, caring, attentive and insightful care and has a calming and relaxed presence.

Market  Street Medical Practice is very pleased to welcome her to the team.
