The Practice
Market Street Medical Practice has been established in the CBD since January 2003 and is doctor owned and operated.
We aim to provide a holistic approach to medical care in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The practice prides itself on its patient orientated approach to healthcare and its commitment to
the highest ethical standards including the confidentiality of all patient consultations and records.
Our doctors are committed to continuing medical education and work as a team to provide a high standard of medical care.
Our practice has an emphasis on preventive medicine. Please inform the receptionist if you wish to have a full check-up so that a longer appointment may be booked.

The practice also offers corporate medical services including pre-employment and insurance medicals, urine drug screening and audiometry/spirometry,
acute work cover and return to work assessments, and staff flu vaccination programs.

Consulting Hours
Monday to Friday by appointment
7:30 am – 4:45 pm ( later appointments available by special arrangement )
The office is open from 7:30 am each consulting day
Closed weekends and public holidays

This practice offers a private billing system. Fees vary depending on the time and skill involved in the consultation.
Current fees are displayed at the reception desk.
We ask that all accounts are paid at the time of consultation. We accept cash, credit card ( except American Express ), and eftpos payments.

Telephone Calls
Messages may be left with reception staff where applicable. Doctors will return patients' calls as soon as feasible. This may not be until the end of the day or early the following day. Please let staff know if your message / query is urgent.
Medical requests or bookings cannot be provided by email. Please call or fax instead.

Pathology,Radiology and Results
Specimens may be collected in the surgery or you may be referred to the local pathology collection centre on Level 1 of our building or the nearest collection centre of your choice.
Patients requiring xrays or other imaging are referred to one of the local CBD radiologists or the nearest radiology group of your choice.
Practice policy is that results in general are not given over the phone but discussed at a follow up consultation.
Pap smear results are sent out in the mail and should be received within 14 days of collection.
Please call us if you have not received your result by this time.

Repeat Prescriptions and Referrals
A consultation is required for all new patients, new referrals, new problems and new medications.
Repeats without consultation may be considered at the doctor’s discretion for past medications and referrals for known patients, seen within the preceding 3 months only. A fee will apply.

Patient Reminders
A reminder or recall system is in place for pap smears and important follow up tests and reviews.
It is the practice's policy to enroll patients in reminder systems unless otherwise requested by the patient.
Please let the receptionist know that you have received a recall letter when you make your booking.

Our doctors and staff collect information from patients primarily to provide proper care and treatment. We have a legal and ethical duty to protect patient information.
It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.
All staff are committed to our confidentiality policy.
Patient information may have to be disclosed to other doctors, nurses, therapists and medical technicians so that proper healthcare is not compromised.
Patients who have queries about privacy of information are welcome to discuss these matters with their treating doctors.

Patient feedback is most welcome. Please tell us of any suggestions you may have to improve our service.
If you have any concerns or complaints about your treatment here, please contact one of the doctors or receptionists, so that we can discuss your concerns with you.

After Hours Medical Services
Medical emergencies-ie chest pain, severe asthma attack, stroke-you should ring 000 for an ambulance.

Serious medical conditions but not emergencies- eg concussion, severe abdominal pains - you can go to the casualty department at your closest public or private hospital -
in the inner suburbs this will include Royal Brisbane Hospital, Herston, Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside ( Northside ) or Mater Hospital, Sth Brisbane or Princess Alexandra Hospital ( Southside ) - publicly or
Wesley Hospital, Auchenflower, St Andrew's Hospital,Spring Hill, Holy Spirit Northside, Chermside ( Northside )
or Mater Private Hospital, Sth Brisbane, or Greenslopes Hospital,Greenslopes ( Southside ) - privately
Children-can go to the casualty department at your closest hospital-in the inner suburbs this would include Royal Children's Hospital Herston ( Northside ) or Mater Children's Hospital Sth Brisbane ( Southside )

Medical Conditions best treated by Gp's - you can go to your local 7 day or 24 hr medical centre.
